Course Overview
This advanced 3-day programme provides an in-depth and practical approach to electrical safety in the workplace, with particular emphasis on arc-flash risk assessment, electrical equipment hazards, energized electrical work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and electrical maintenance.
The programme is designed for professionals who already have a basic understanding of electrical safety and need to develop advanced capabilities for managing electrical risks in industrial and commercial environments.
Participants will examine the hazards associated with MV and LV switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, MCCs, motors, VFDs, UPS and battery systems, generators and distribution equipment. The programme also addresses equipment failure mechanisms, electrical testing, protection systems, maintenance-related risks and methods for reducing arc-flash exposure.
Through practical exercises, equipment-based scenarios and Caribbean-relevant case studies, participants will learn how to assess electrical hazards, establish safe working conditions, select appropriate controls and PPE, develop effective LOTO procedures and strengthen their organisation’s Electrical Safety Program.
The programme concludes with an integrated practical assessment and a 90-day Electrical Safety Improvement Plan that participants can adapt to their own workplace.
